WHAT ARE THE KEY LESSONS WE CAN LEARN FROM THE STORY OF CREATION?
The Bible Genesis (1 vs 1-31)
THE LAW OF TIME.
I was sitting down having deep thoughts on why God created the world in 5 days, some would say 7 days. What brought about this question is the fact that God has all the power and authority to create everything in a split of a second without even waiting for another day. Why would God, a Supreme Being, mighty and powerful, need such time to create the world? Was it lack power, or maybe lack of resources? Definitely not. In His process of creation, He was communicating a very important principle to us that we must adopt when we are in a quest of building dreams. The fact that you have all resources at your disposal does not mean that everything must be done at once. For any dream to be achieved, it must go the under process of time. Furthermore, the timing itself gives the dreamer enough time to perfect his dream. Warren Buffet once said, “You cannot make a baby in one month by making 9 women pregnant” Including more women in the process will not shorten the period. They will still need to go under the 9-month period. During the 9 months, the baby is being prepared for the outside world as the bone starts to replace the cartilage and most internal systems are being developed. Research has shown that most entrepreneurs that fast tracked their growth performed worse in the long term than their slow growing counterparts. Faster growth exposes businesses to challenges that could have been avoided if due diligence was taken and they had time preparing and researching. Be like God. Create your world step by step honouring the law of time and in the end it will be beautiful.
THE LAW OF SELF APPRECIATION.
In his process of creation there is something that God repeatedly did after completing a task “And God saw that it was good”. No angels or creation saw it on his behalf. He saw it Himself. In the process of building a dream, before we try to make other people see the goodness in our dreams or work, let’s see it ourselves. Before you seek the validation and opinion others learn to celebrate and appreciate yourself on what you have done so far. Never try to make the world see the beauty in your dreams that you can’t see yourself. See the goodness in your dreams yourself. Such process helps in building and creating energy within oneself to do more. The best form of motivation is the motivation that one gives to himself .Of key importance is that God finished Task A before he moved to Task B. It is important to avoid a situation of having a lot of work in progress, and yet nothing has been completed. In a world where we have many things to do, lets avoid a situation where we are found doing everything but without anything completed.
The LAW OF ORDER.
God only created the trees after creating ground. Imagine a situation where God would have created the tree before the ground. Where was he going to place the trees? His process of creation is a true reflection of his Infinite wisdom. Both the land and tree were important as far as creation was concerned. However, God studied the support system of his goals i.e. which one supports the other? Which one is an independent and depended variable? Afterwards, He started with the ground, for the ground was going to support the tree by giving it life. Study the life support systems of your goals. Which goals give life to another and pursue that first. We can’t do everything at the same time due to lack of time and resources. We have diverse type of goals, ranging from spiritual goals, relationship goals, academic goals , career goals etc. From a personal perspective what would be your ground and what would be your tree? I would say academic, or knowledge goals are the ground that would feed and give life to one’s career and business goals. Let every person study the life support system of his goals and apply it. You would be amazed by the results.
THE LAW OF STEWARDSHIP.
After God created the world, He left it to Adam. It is important to note that Adam was not the only creature that God had created, but what made him unique is the fact he was created in the image and likeness of God. This is a key factor. God shared and left his works and world in the hands of man who had his likeness. When you are building something or creating a succession plan, appoint a man who shares your likeness and vision as the steward of your works. Most people have built empires and businesses, but when they are gone, they make a mistake of leaving their works in the hands of people that do not carry the same image and vision leading to early collapse of the empires. Many skills would need to be considered as well as experience but above all that, I would go for a successor who carries my image and likeness for I know he will drive the business towards its greater heights. Ask yourself this question, for all the hard work you are doing, who is going to be the steward of your work, does the person carry your image and likeness i.e. mindset?
THE LAW OF REST.
After God had ended his creations, the Bible said God rested. The statement may have many interpretations based on one’s religious background. The term rest did not mean God was tired, for the bibles says, He never gets weary. It referred to the sense of fulfilment and joy that God had in seeing that he had completed His works. What is captivating in that passage of Scriptures is the fact that the creations of God led him to a place of rest. A litmus test to assess if you are pursing the right goal and dream is when your achievements leads to your place of your rest and peace. The reward of pursing the right goal is rest and peace. If it ends up taking away your peace and rest, stop pursing it
